The energy sector contains businesses whose purpose is the production and supply of energy. This includes companies who extract crude petroleum and natural gas, companies who generate, transmit and distribute electricity and companies who manufacture gas. It also includes companies who generate renewable energy from solar, on and offshore wind and tidal, and will include new technologies like hydrogen.
